'Not a sporting event': Excessive cheering hogs spotlight at high school graduations
Fri Jun 8, 2012
If the families of graduate students at Pinole High School will be allowed to cheer, chant, clap, and stomp, they may as well be allowed to shriek, scream, whoop, blow airhorns, release balloons, throw confetti, wave signs, twirl white towels, do "the wave", and wear caps, jackets, t-shirts, sweatsh …
Iconic science fiction writer Ray Bradbury dies at 91
Wed Jun 6, 2012
Don't worry, Brock Spencer. Poverty and fake unemployment numbers are mentioned everywhere. Just allow Ray Bradbury fans to mourn him, okay? That is, if it doesn't bother you. All of us should be so lucky to have the success he had and live to be 91.
GM won't advertise on next Super Bowl, report says
Fri May 18, 2012
Yep, and the republican'ts way of thinking too.
Ted Williams: I've been sober a year, 'one day at a time'
Mon May 14, 2012
Oh? This kind of story isn't as important as constant stories about our armed forces? Don't get me wrong, our men and women fighting for our freedoms is great, but there are other good stories out there and they shouldn't be ignored just because somebody wants only to see the ones about soldiers. If …
Body found in bunker believed to be that of survivalist murder suspect Peter Keller
Sat Apr 28, 2012
Very sad story. Yes, it will be one less criminal the taxpayers will have to spend money on, but it would be interesting to know why he shot and killed his wife and daughter.
Giffords makes rare public appearance to accept award
Wed Apr 25, 2012
There are many different kinds of courage. Running into a burning building to rescue someone is one of them. Fighting for your life after nearly getting your brains blown out by a deranged gunman is another, and this is the kind of courage we are talking about here.
Catholic nuns group 'stunned' by Vatican scolding for 'radical feminist' ideas
Fri Apr 20, 2012
I have never heard anything so stupid in my life. These nuns are being punished for focusing the real issues Christianity is meant to address -- social issues and helping the poor. An earlier commentor here was right when they said the RCC said to these women, "Screw Jesus and his teachings.
$4.2 million settlement for student paralyzed by bully
Thu Apr 19, 2012
I too hope this boy actually gets the settlement money. True, there are going to be legal fees and medical bills, but hopefully the settlement will cover at least some of that. The boy deserves his life back.
Peoria bishop compares Obama's actions to Stalin, Hitler
Thu Apr 19, 2012
This bishop certainly does need a history lesson. While condoms may be against RCC policy, they pale in comparison next to the 19th century anti-clerical beliefs of Germany's Otto von Bismarck and France's Georges Clemenceau; they believed the RCC was gaining too much power.
Santorum letters to Iowans: Romney as nominee "truly frightens me"
Tue Apr 17, 2012
Senator Santorum, you frighten me more than does Mittens with your marching orders from the Vatican and the Holy See. I'm glad you're out of the race. The last thing we need is a President who kisses the ground that Pope walks on. John F. Kennedy wouldn't do it and he was Roman Catholic.

Got milk? Target does! Readers share stories from the Target nurse-in
Sure! It's not a big deal, she's just feeding her baby.
Wow, Luke the Great thinks a woman discretely breastfeeding her baby in public is a nasty dime-store whore? Remarks like that show how much society sees a woman's breasts as external sex organs, which they are not; they produce milk for a baby's nurishment.
